Who is an emotional fool?
People who are extremely
sensitive and easily let people tread over them are referred to as
emotional fools. But according to psychiatrists, being sensitive is a
normal trait which is found in 15-20% of the population in our country.
Why is it bad?
"Too much of anything is bad. Especially when you let
people or a certain person control your feelings and modify them the
way they want to, will only hurt you and will be a cause of constant
worry. The curse of this highly developed sensitivity is that you
intensely feel almost everything — the good, the anxious and the angry
but can't do anything about it because you either love the person too
much or you let situations and circumstances affect you."
Ways to strengthen yourself
Being too emotional can
make you feel vulnerable, threatened and defensive. It robs you of a
happy life by hurting you with comments and actions that are otherwise
considered 'normal.'
You're your own master: One
needs to recognize that though you may have people around who are
concerned and would like to help you, you have to help yourself.
Explore your sensitivity: Figuring out what you are emotional or sensitive about, can help you take control better.
Look for the trigger: Look for patterns or habits you have developed that prompt you to behave in this way.
Take time off: Sometimes, it is best to take time off and be on your own. This will help you figure out the issue by yourself.
Keep in mind
- Say 'no' when you have to. Don't sacrifice your own needs to please others.
- Let go of people who aren't who you thought they were.
- Don't take medicines in a bid to 'heal' yourself. Practise meditation or yoga instead.
