Savitri by SriAurobindo

The epic by Sriaurobindo . Have just heard and listened , even tried reading a couple of times , but not for long. Since the language is too difficult to understand, and also one has to be at a certain spiritual level to even touch it , never got into it . Was trying to find a smaller and more concise way . 

What Sriaurobinodo has written about Savitri :

"The tale of Satyavan and Savitri is recited in the Mahabharata as a story of conjugal love conquering death. But this legend is, as shown by many features of the human tale, one of the many symbolic myths of the Vedic cycle. Satyavan is the soul carrying the divine truth of being within itself but descended into the grip of death and ignorance; Savitri is the Divine Word, daughter of the Sun, goddess of the supreme Truth who comes down and is born to save; Aswapati, the Lord of the Horse, her human father, is the Lord of Tapasya, the concentrated energy of spiritual endeavour that helps us to rise from the mortal to the immortal planes; Dyumatsena, Lord of the Shining Hosts, father of Satyavan, is the Divine Mind here fallen blind, losing its celestial kingdom of vision, and through that loss its kingdom of glory. Still this is not a mere allegory, the characters are not personified qualities, but incarnations or emanations of living and conscious Forces with whom we can enter into concrete touch and they take human bodies in order to help man and show him the way from his mortal state to a divine consciousness and immortal life"

Extracts from what Swami Vikakananda said about god and mother 

GOD : Can you see your own eyes? God is like that. He is as close as your own eyes. He is your own, even though you can't see Him.

MOTHERHOOD : The highest of all feminine types in India is mother, higher than wife. Wife and children may desert a man, but his mother never. Mother is the same or loves her child perhaps a little more. Mother represents colourless love that knows no barter, love that never dies. Who can have such love? — only mother, not son, nor daughter, nor wife.

Happy Birthday Biwi

Today is jayanti's Birthday . Always pray for her goodness. As most of the obedient husband do , I too went out alone to get some flowers and cake .

She was fast asleep , but I didn’t wanted to miss the cake , so woke her up in the mid night and then she cut the cake . I too got a small slice and I was satisfied. Her reactions are never extreme , so accepted by wishes and love and obliged me . Thank You Jayanti :)

Let this day of your birth be for you an occasion to give yourself a little more, a little better to the Divine. Let your consecration be more total, your devotion more ardent, your aspiration more intense.

 Open yourself to the New Light and walk with a joyful step on the path.

Resolve on this day that it may be thus and the day will not have passed in vain.

Vedanta

The Absolute Reality which is the fundamental cause of the universe and all beings is full (beyond all limitations which can be caused by time, space, and material). It is pure, free indivisible and homogeneous Consciousness. The individual self (jiva) which appears limited by time, space, and material, or name and form, is also full, pure, free, indivisible and homogeneous Consciousness. The individual Consciousness (self) which is full has come from that Absolute Consciousness which is also full. Here comes a discrepancy. How can something full come from something that is also full and still both remain full? This disparity is solved by the illustration of space. Space is recognized as full, free, pure, boundless, unattached, all-pervading, indivisible and homogeneous. When a barrier is erected in space, we say the space is divided and call it "room space, limited space," etc. If there is dust or contamination in the room, we say the space in the room is dusty or impure. We all know that space cannot be divided or become impure. It is always full, free, pure and indivisible. The divisions are assumed due to the barriers we construct in space. Similar is the nature of the Absolute Consciousness which is the Supreme Reality. Nothing can ever come from It. It alone exists. The separate individuality which one feels is due to the limiting adjuncts of body-mind complex which are, in reality, illusory appearances like dream objects or mirage seen in a desert or a rope mistakenly seen as a snake in dim light. When viewed in its real nature as Pure Consciousness alone, divested of its limitations, the individual Self is known to be one and the same Absolute Consciousness.

The Deity Who Taught Me Everything

The name Sister Thomas Jose , for all in Holy Cross School means : - discipline , fair , ethical , strict , motherly and vibrant Principal of our school.

The name which has shaped thousands of lives and have never asked for any favor back . We all own our complete life to sister Thomas without whom it would have been difficult to see ourselves where we are now.

I again got opportunity to meet sister after a gap of 17 years in Delhi few days back .

I was still having the fear which used to be there while entering the principal’s room in my school in Bokaro .

But to my surprise , I and my friend Dr Ajay met a totally different sister, a lady with white hair , thin and lean and completely emotional ....it was like meeting my GOD back , as both sister and god to the same thing - " Creation of human being"

I touched the feet and a warm hug from her as if I met my mother back . She has always been so special to me , and when she left the school to take up new charge at a different location , the whole school was in tears . it was like losing a great mentor and guide in the middle of the journey .

Pray from the divine for her good health and long life always.
